The Cubano
Our signature sandwich. The Cubano or Cuban sandwich dates back to the 1500’s in Cuba and became popular in both the Key West and Tampa with the sizeable Cuban immigrant population that had moved there to work in the thriving cigar factories in both cities. The current incarnation of the sandwich, served here at the Bodega, uses ham, roast pork butt, Swiss cheese, sliced dill pickle and a yellow mustard-based sauce was popularized by Frank “Paco” Garces at his Do-Drop-Inn restaurant in Northwest Miami. |

Barbeque Pulled Pork
The origins of barbequed pork can be traced to the Taino Indians of the West Indies, who cooked meat and fish over a pit of coals on a framework of green wooden sticks. The Spanish spelling of the name for the framework was “barbacoa”. This cooking method and name found their way to North America and became the grilling technique we now know as barbeque. Our sandwich features an enormous helping of smoked pork with cheddar cheese and our homemade barbeque sauce, served on a Ciabatta role. |
